This is a matter of semantics. On Siemens systems, the parameters is FOV oversampling % and on GE it is NAcq. On both of those systems, you can see the acquired phase-encode lines before the oversampling is prescribed, so we use that plus the reconstructed FOV. Is it the true number of phase-encoding steps acquired? No. But neither are the frequency-encoding steps nor the acquired frequency FOV. While I would be in favor of a better way to capture these nuances, technologists might get tripped up trying to extract this level of detail. (I believe the majority of sites have technologists doing this work and cannot count on physicists.) If you get dinged, step in and appeal.
