[IMUG-L] displaying loan periods

Hi Jean,

You are asking about the public catalog (OPAC), yes? We haven't figured that out (or tried, actually), but I feel like somewhere I have seen a library that simply made it part of the location display text, like "4-hour music reserve." I can't put my finger on where I've seen that to know if it was III or not, but it seems like it might work.

I'd be interested if you find an option. We don't display the loan period in the catalog - it's listed on a separate web page.

Subject: [IMUG-L] displaying loan periods

Has anybody with an Innovative catalog come up with a good way to display loan periods? We are looking for something that would work in our fairly complex system, with lots of subunits with their own policies.

We'd like to find a way that doesn't require creating a custom status (because those are too easily cleared by circulation workers) or anything that would make us have to update numerous separate places when a policy changed. The main thing that needs to display, if we can figure out how to do it, is the short loans (2-hour loan, in-house use; or 2-hour loan of books on course carrels but 3-day loans for books on personal carrels; and things like that). We don't want to display the loans for normal circulating materials, because those vary by patron type (for instance, if an undergraduate checks it out, it is 3 weeks; but if faculty or grads check the same thing out, it is a full semester)

Thanks for any hints.

Jean
