<div dir="ltr"><div>Good people of the Hebrew Name Authority Funnel!</div><div><br></div><div>So, I ran across the below name authority:</div><div><br></div><div>1001 Gvirtzman, I.S.<br>4001 Gevirtsman, I.S.<br>4001 גבירצמן, א.ש.<br>
667 Non-Latin script reference not evaluated<br>670 Ḥolah ʻal ʻakhbarim, 2012: ǂb title page (I.S. Gevirtsman = א.ש. גבירצמן) page facing title page (I.S. Gvirtzman [romanized])</div><div><br></div><div>This is causing me some issues. Yes, I know, there should be a space between initials, but that's just a garden variety error and causes no anxiety. The rendering of the shin, however, is troubling.</div>
<div><br></div><div>The way I read the guidelines for Romanization, a "shin" is Sh and a "sin" is [acute]S. The t.p. verso provides an S, but really, that doesn't help to narrow it down. The patent-pending "Bob Talbott method" for dealing the Romanized x-refs would have been as follows:</div>
<div><br></div><div>4001# Gevirtsman, I. Sh.</div><div>4001# Gevirtsman, I. [acute]S.</div><div><br></div><div>... unless I'm missing something. Am I missing something? It's happened before, there's no denying. </div>
<div><br></div><div>So: is the record correct as is? If so, why?</div><div><br></div><div>Thanks in advance</div><div><br></div><div>Bob<br>-- <br></div><div dir="ltr"><pre cols="72">Bob Talbott
