The code will hopefully be assigned by LC in the very near future.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:left;direction:ltr;unicode-bidi:embed'><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify;direction:ltr;unicode-bidi:embed'>Background:<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify;direction:ltr;unicode-bidi:embed'>Many Israeli commercial publishers do not request ISBN numbers. They request a danacode number. The danacode is similar to an ISBN number. It is printed on the back cover of Hebrew books and occasionally on publications in other languages published in Israel. In the following example, the danacode is displayed as a text and as a barcode. The danacode consists of a publisher code (up to 4 digits), a hyphen and an internal book number (up to 7 digits). In the example below, 800 is the publisher's number and 3411 is the book number. The number is also displayed as a barcode.
