Dear All,

I’m writing to you today with one final reminder that the graduate student conference, A Collective Address to Death, co-hosted by the Department of Comparative Studies and the Center for the Study of Religion, will take place this Friday and Saturday, May 13-14, 2022. I also want to compile some key information here for anyone interested in attending.

The events for Friday, May 13th will take place primarily in-person and will consist of 4 panels during the day and a keynote lecture in the evening. Coffee, tea, and doughnuts will be provided for both presenters and guests in the morning at Derby Hall, and lunch will be catered by Lavash between our morning and afternoon sessions in Hagerty Hall. Note: these sessions will only take place in-person and will not be offered in a hybrid format. All who attend the conference proceedings in-person are welcome to join us for lunch as well. You do not need to pre-register for in-person attendance. Our keynote lecture will be delivered by Dr. Hannibal Hamlin, who has served as the Center’s Interim Director for the past year, and will take place in-person at the 18th Avenue Library with an optional livestream via Zoom for those guests who are unable to join us in Columbus. Registration for the Zoom webinar is available on the Center website HERE<https://religion.osu.edu/events/personification-death-paradise-lost-and-elsewhere-keynote-address-collective-address-death>. For those in the Columbus area, we do strongly encourage you to attend all of Friday’s events in-person in the spirit of collegiality. The graduate students in Comparative Studies have worked hard to prepare this event throughout the course of the semester, and we would appreciate your support!

All of the events planned for Saturday, May 14th will take place via Zoom to accommodate our international presenters who were unable to travel to Columbus. If you plan to attend any of Saturday’s panels or the keynote event, you will need to register for access to the Zoom webinar link. Registration for Saturday’s events can be found HERE<https://sites.google.com/view/addressingdeath/conference-details/conference-schedule>. Panels will be followed by a keynote address by Kaitlyn L. Kinney, an independent folklorist. The keynote will also take place entirely via Zoom; there will be no in-person events on Saturday.

To view the schedule of events in full, including specific locations and room numbers, please click HERE<https://sites.google.com/view/addressingdeath/conference-details/conference-schedule>. Links to register for all of the webinars can also be found at this website. If you plan to attend in-person on Friday, we recommend arriving to Derby Hall between 9-9:30am to ensure you have plenty of time to register and grab some light refreshments before presentations begin.

Questions, comments, or concerns can be emailed to me at any time at finver.1 at buckeyemail.osu.edu<mailto:finver.1 at buckeyemail.osu.edu>. We greatly look forward to seeing you over the course of the weekend!

Cheers,
Savannah
