Dear all,

I just came from hooding Sarah Craycraft at Commencement, Katey being on a hiking trip in Wyoming. (Congrats to Sarah, who will be with us next year as a full-time Lecturer in Comparative Studies.)

In her introduction to the conferral of degrees, President Johnson described the work of two new graduates as exemplifying the resilience, invention, and forward thinking of Ohio State student researchers in the pandemic years. The second was a PhD engineer studying the biomechanics of running. The first was our own Lydia Smith, Folklore GIS and Ohio Field School alumna, receiving her MFA in Art. President Johnson went into considerable detail about Lydia's project documenting cemeteries around the world through ethnographic research and remarkably beautiful photographs, now collected in several volumes. Kudos to Lydia on this notable recognition!
