Clock Design Competition!
Hey everyone!
For those who don’t know, OSU hosts two amazing 24-hour making marathons, the software-focused HackOHI/O in the fall, and the hardware-focused MakeOHI/O in the spring. How do we know that these events go exactly 24 hours? It used to be with this:

But this year, thanks to a generous gift by Texas Instruments we have $300 to build a whole new clock and we want it designed by YOU! That’s right, the Electronics Club along with OHI/O is hosting it’s first-ever clock design competition!!! We want anything from quick sketches to full design proposals on ways to count down the 24 grueling hours MakeOHI/O and HackOHI/O participants spend innovating amazing creations under pressure.
Here are the requirements:

  * Counts down 24 hours, down to the last seconds (bonus if it can also tell time)
  * Can be built for close to our $300 budget in less than six weeks
  * Can be seen from 100 feet away
  *   Looks freakin’ amazing!
No technical knowledge is necessary to submit a design (but things we can’t at all figure out how to build are kind of disqualified).
Here’s what you get:

  * A chance to work with the Electronics Club to turn your idea into sweet, tangible reality
  * Credit for the design on the clock itself
  *   Special recognition at the 2019 HackOHI/O and 2020 MakeOHI/O competitions
For those of you already chrono-salivating, all you have to do is submit your design to Electronics Club VP John Hribar (hribar.5 at osu.edu<mailto:ar.5 at osu.edu>) by September 20th. We’ll notify the winner soon after and will have the clock up and running by the HackOHI/O competition, which takes place on November 2, 2019.
Thanks, and we’re literally counting the seconds before we get to see your amazing submission!

John Hribar
