Hello all,

The Electronics Club is excited to announce two great workshops coming this week. Texas Instruments and Harris RF will both be hosting interactive workshops that are open to anyone interested. Food, drinks, and, hardware will be provided so feel free to bring a laptop and a resume to fully participate. Stay tuned if you have ever wanted to learn about Printed Circuit Board layout, software defined radio, or RF signal hunting in addition to what it is like working at TI or Harris.
Texas Instruments:
When: Tuesday, 9/22 @ 7:30pm to 9:30pm
Where: Baker Systems<https://www.osu.edu/map/building.php?building=280> 120
Download: CadSoft Eagle 7.4.0<http://www.cadsoftusa.com/download-eagle/>
What:

Thi TI's hands-on workshop will teach students the full process of creating a MSP430 booster pack.

- This includes schematic design, board placement, routing, and ordering. This workshop is perfect for students working on a senior design, hobby electronics, or looking for resume building skills

* At the end of this workshop, students will have an understanding on how they can use the MSP430 device to make a working prototype board.

Harris RF:
When: Wednesday, 9/23 @ 8:00pm to 10:00pm
Where: Journalism Building<https://www.osu.edu/map/building.php?building=046> 251
Download: Energia IDE<http://energia.nu/download/> and Drivers<http://energia.nu/pin-maps/guide_msp430g2launchpad/>
What:
An RF Scavenger Hunt using the AIR Booster Pack will be held after a brief talk on software defined radio.

In the modern communication job market, no words are more magic to an employer's ear than "software defined radio", or SDR. By moving traditional hardware components of a radio into software, SDRs allow for customization and flexibility required in commercial applications. In this talk, we will address the concept of a software defined radio, practical applications, architectural design of a SDR, and (free) tools available for anyone to get started.

There are a lot of excellent ways coming this week to interface with company recruiters and practice new skills. Keep in mind that space will be limited to each room's capacity. If there are any questions, please direct them to electronicsosu at gmail.com<mailto:electronicsosu at gmail.com> . Hope to see you there!
Thanks,
Eric Bauer
P.S: A former club member has a hiring opportunity he wanted to share! CE Power Solutions in Cincinnati Ohio is looking for electrical engineers to work in power transmission and delivery. If you are graduating this December and are interested in a full-time position, please email Rhonda Harris (rharris at cepower.net<mailto:rharris at cepower.net> ) and state that you were referred by Mark Scott at Miami University.
