<p style="max-width: 100%;">The Office for Access and Equity is seeking applications for an ADA Coordinator position. The ADA Coordinator’s responsibilities include assuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities (ADA) Act, Sections 503 and 504 of
the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to persons with disabilities.</p>
<p style="max-width: 100%;"><strong style="max-width: 100%;">MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
</strong></p>
<p style="max-width: 100%;">Best Practices, Regulations, Laws, Policies and Procedures</p>
<ul style="max-width: 100%;">
<li style="max-width: 100%;">Provide leadership in the oversight and coordination of all aspects of ADA compliance.</li><li style="max-width: 100%;">Interpret current disability-related laws and regulations affecting University policies and procedures and serve as the primary liaison with these agencies.</li><li style="max-width: 100%;">Develop and implement innovative approaches and best practices concerning access and accommodation that distinguish the University of Illinois from other institutions.</li><li style="max-width: 100%;">Coordinate the University’s reasonable accommodation process for faculty and staff which includes: manage the ADA public portal and ensure appropriate and timely routing of all accommodations; maintaining a database of all accommodation
requests and provide statistics and trends to administrators; manage requests for assistance and inquiries.</li><li style="max-width: 100%;">Ensure that appropriate processes are in place to provide for the prompt and equitable resolution of complaints and inquiries from employees, students, and the public regarding compliance with the ADA and other applicable federal
and state laws regarding discrimination on the basis of disability.</li><li style="max-width: 100%;">Identify patterns of non-compliance exhibited by campus units, vendors, contractors, and other groups affecting the campus ADA climate, and make recommendations on action to be taken.</li><li style="max-width: 100%;">Serves as a resource and provides advice and guidance to faculty and staff on issues of ADA discrimination and harassment and workplace accommodations.</li><li style="max-width: 100%;">Assist in developing University and departmental policies and procedures.</li><li style="max-width: 100%;">Facilitate the goal of programmatic access and equal opportunity to University employment, sponsored activities and events for all staff and persons.</li><li style="max-width: 100%;">Oversee the regular evaluation and updating of the university ADA Transition Plan, in consultation with relevant university offices and stakeholders.</li></ul>
<p style="max-width: 100%;">Training and Climate</p>
<ul style="max-width: 100%;">
<li style="max-width: 100%;">Coordinate, develop, implement, present and review training programs for University faculty, staff, campus units and other groups affecting the campus.</li><li style="max-width: 100%;">Publicize external training opportunities from a wide range of external organizations.</li><li style="max-width: 100%;">Assist with identifying existing strengths and limitations of existing campus ADA efforts and make recommendations for improvements.</li><li style="max-width: 100%;">Use a variety of methods, such as program and facility reviews, interviews, surveys, metrics, public forums, etc., to assess the campus ADA climate, compliance, attitudes and concerns.</li><li style="max-width: 100%;">Recommend strategies, policies, and practices that create a campus climate supportive of faculty, staff, student and visitor access and accommodations.</li><li style="max-width: 100%;">Conduct assessments of faculty, staff, student and visitor attitudes and perceptions of their experiences to better understand factors contributing to ADA problems and successes.</li></ul>
<p style="max-width: 100%;">Data, Reports and Marketing Materials</p>
<ul style="max-width: 100%;">
<li style="max-width: 100%;">Collect and analyze data regarding access and accommodations for faculty and staff and make recommendations based on data analysis.</li><li style="max-width: 100%;">Ensure the accuracy of institutional data and oversee compliance with required reporting under state and federal laws related to accommodations for people with disabilities.</li><li style="max-width: 100%;">Develops and maintains materials and other informational pieces to broadly disseminate information regarding the ADA and policies/procedures relating to persons with disabilities including keeping the website up to date.</li><li style="max-width: 100%;">Create reports and present to administrators and committees.</li></ul>
<p style="max-width: 100%;">Grant Writing</p>
<ul style="max-width: 100%;">
<li style="max-width: 100%;">Assist in fundraising and grant writing activities for ADA compliance initiatives, facilities, and equipment. This includes seeking out new grant-funding opportunities, and shepherding grant application processes. Where appropriate,
author grant proposals and serves as administrator of grants.</li></ul>
<p style="max-width: 100%;">Relationships</p>
<ul style="max-width: 100%;">
<li style="max-width: 100%;">Work closely with the Committee on Access and Accommodations, the Division of Disability Resources and Educational Services, Technology Accessibility Review Committee, Facility and Services and other key stakeholders.</li><li style="max-width: 100%;">Develops systematic approaches and methods for campus units to collaborate and partner together on accessibility matters.</li></ul>
<p style="max-width: 100%;">Supervision</p>
<ul style="max-width: 100%;">
<li style="max-width: 100%;">Supervise the accommodation staff in the Office for Access and Equity.</li></ul>
<p style="max-width: 100%;">Other duties as assigned.</p>
<p style="max-width: 100%;"><strong style="max-width: 100%;">QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p>
<p style="max-width: 100%;"><u style="max-width: 100%;">Required Education:</u> </p>
<p style="max-width: 100%;">Bachelor’s Degree</p>
<p style="max-width: 100%;"><u style="max-width: 100%;">Preferred Education</u>: </p>
<p style="max-width: 100%;">Graduate Degree</p>
<p style="max-width: 100%;"><u style="max-width: 100%;">Required experience:</u></p>
<p style="max-width: 100%;">Five (5) years of professional experience in providing reasonable accommodations to employees and/or students.</p>
<p style="max-width: 100%;"><u style="max-width: 100%;">Preferred experience:</u><br style="max-width: 100%;">
Prior experience working in higher education with faculty, staff and/or students and/or prior experience working as an ADA Coordinator or a comparable role.</p>

<p style="max-width: 100%;">This is a full-time Civil Service Program Coordinator position appointed on a [12]-month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after close date. Salary is commensurate with experience.</p>
