<p>Join the JANM Education Unit for this virtual workshop on using the art of Miné Okubo’s <em>Citizen 13660</em> in the classroom. Published in 1946, <em>Citizen 13660</em>
 was the first book-length acount of America’s concentration camps from 
the perspective of a former incarceree. Through a series of nearly 200 
illustrations, each accompanied by a caption, Okubo documented how World
 War II and the subsequent incarceration upended her life, providing a 
unique, first-person perspective of this chapter in American history.</p>

<p>While this program is open to all active K–12 educators, this 
workshop is most applicable for educators who work with grade 6–12.</p>

<p>In this workshop, classroom educators will:</p>

<ul><li>Learn about Miné Okubo and the creation of <em>Citizen 13660</em>,</li><li>Practice teaching strategies for engaging students in the art and text of <em>Citizen 13660</em>,</li><li>Discover how to access the Miné Okubo Collection and more through <a href="https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://janm.org__;!!KGKeukY!nm7clzQLfrigqux69ep3KvewnJ5CW6NocueayMJdzpDBRb2Rc-c58cm5jcw7HKsxmjSP-CXRC1rc$">janm.org</a>.</li></ul>

<p>Advance registration required. All participating classroom educators will be mailed a FREE copy of Miné Okubo’s <em><a href="https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://janmstore.com/products/citizen-13660-paperback__;!!KGKeukY!nm7clzQLfrigqux69ep3KvewnJ5CW6NocueayMJdzpDBRb2Rc-c58cm5jcw7HKsxmjSP-Oe3X-oF$">Citizen 13660</a></em> following the workshop.</p>
