Dear all,

I hope you are well. Last year, my colleague Dr Justine Lloyd (Macquarie
University Sociology) and I co-curated an exhibition titled *Panels that
Transform: Comics and Activism* at Macquarie University Art Gallery in
Sydney, Australia. The exhibition featured works by three Australian
artists, Safdar Ahmed, Nicky Minus and Sam Wallman. Unfortunately, right
before our exhibition was launched, we went into a long lockdown period in
our state, so not many people were able to see the exhibition in person.

Luckily, we had some funding and some wonderful tech-savvy colleagues to
help us capture the exhibition virtually and make it available for more
people to enjoy. You can visit the link below to walk through the art
gallery virtually, explore each artwork through high res images, read our
exhibition zine and watch the videos that were part of the exhibition.

You can also watch me and Justine talk about the exhibition during our
closing night in this video produced by Kapow Comic Book Show:

We also held a satellite symposium last year tying in with the exhibition.
Lines of Resistance: Media, Arts, and Activism was planned as an in-person
symposium; however, we shifted it to online during the lockdown. We have
recorded the talks and published them through our Centre for Media History
account on Youtube. Some talks in the symposium would be of interest to
colleagues on this list:

1) Morning Keynote by Safdar Ahmed: The Problem of Witnessing: Graphic
Journalism as Social Engagement

I hope you enjoy these resources and they may give you a glimpse into the
Australian comics landscape. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me
if you would like further information on any of the resources.

Warm regards,
Can
