I sent the following on Sunday. Some of you may have problems<br>
downloading and running the simulation. As explained below you<br>
first have to install Java on your computer. Not an easy task on<br>
a Mac (as described below). Sometimes it might still not run on<br>
your computer. There's another link which could be helpful if
you're<br>
having trouble getting the simulation to run. Go to the following<br>
link go.osu.edu/jarfix. This will take you to a site to download<br>
"jarfix". You might need to run this if somehow you associated<br>
a .jar file with the wrong program (such as your browser).<br>
<br>
Please try to get this set up before coming to lab.<br>
<br>
However, do NOT do any of the simulation before coming to lab.<br>
If you do so the TA will have you do it again.<br>

Bring a laptop to lab for exp 7. If you don't have one don't
worry.<br>
The TA will put you in groups, although you can work alone if you
like.<br>
<b>The simulation can <font color="#ff0000">NOT</font> be done at
home.</b> You will have to do it in<br>
lab.<br>
<br>
It will help for you to download the application before lab. The
link and help for<br>
the exp can be found at my "Laboratory" link on the class web
page. The link is<br>

<br>
Whether you click on the figure or "download" it will ask you to
download<br>
the program. Then run it. This works on Firefox. I don't make
any guarantees<br>
about Chrome, Edge, etc. <br>
<br>
The following is from the authors of the program if you are having
problems<br>
getting it to work.<br>
<p class=""><b><font color="#ff0000">Troubleshooting PhET

</b>If there is trouble with a simulation it is probably related
to Java. Brand new<br>
laptops won't have Java installed yet if the student got their
computer recently<br>
and hasn't needed to use Java for anything else online, they
just might not<br>
have installed it. Instructions for installing Java can be
found here (the<br>
installation is very easy):</p>

<b><font color="#ff0000">Apple Products</font>:</b><br>
Sometimes people have trouble with Apple products. Since I don't
have one <br>
I can't give you specific instructions, but you have to change
your security <br>
settings to allow the download of Java and the simulation. You
need to tell <br>
your Apple product to allow programs to download and run which
don't come <br>
directly from the Apple Store. Also, I know the simulation works
using Firefox<br>
or Chrome. I can't say if it works correctly using Safari or
other browsers<br>
<br>
This will <b><font color="#ff0000">NOT</font></b> work on an <b><font
color="#ff0000">iPad</font></b>.<br>
<br>
This exp should not take the whole lab period so there should be
time to work on<br>
exps you have not completed. Follow the directions given in a
previous e-mail.<br>
