1) Missed first lab (exp 1).

You should come see me as soon as possible.

You have to watch two videos, the safety video (even if you did
so in a previous chemistry course) and the video for exp 1. This
will need to be done in 170 Celeste Lab. You then need to read and
sign off on the Safety Statement and take the Safety Quiz. This all
has
to be done before your next lab period.

2) Finishing exp 1

If you didn't do exp 1 last week or didn't finish it have your
notebook
prepared to do exp 1 and exp 2.

Exp 1 is easily done over more than one period (taking the temp. of
the water each time). This means you will need to leave some blank
pages between your write-ups for exp 1 and exp 2 in your notebook.
Each week when you work on exp 1 you and your TA need to date
and sign your notebook pages and you then turn them into the TA at
the end of the period.

Exp 2 shouldn't take the whole period. Finish it first before
working
on exp 1.

The first review/quiz period begins the week of Jan 22. There will
be
about 1 hour after the quiz to work on unfinished exps. If you
still don't
finish you can continue working on unfinished exps during other
periods.

Make sure you don't fall behind on another exp since it will then
become
more difficult to catch up. Anytime you work on more than one exp
in a
lab period you need to be really well prepared to make sure you can
get
things done. Watching the lab videos ahead of time can help with
this (you
still have to watch them during lab before starting the exp).

Remember, exps 1-7 must be finished so the reports can be turned in
before
the first report cutoff date of March 9 (March 12 for Monday labs),
see
the syllabus. Normal late points apply if the reports are late by
that date.
After that date those reports receive zero credit (you may not get a
full week
to write a report or the late week to get it in). If you wind up
with a lot of exps
to complete by this date w/o valid reasons for not having finished
them you will
not be given extra time to do so. Unexcused absences or not being
prepared for
lab are not valid reasons.

As always, the report for any experiment is due 1 week after
completing the exp.
This means at some point you may have two reports due in the same
period.

I hope this helps.
