Midterm 2 covers 15, 16 and 17.1-17.2. Titrations are NOT on this
exam.<br>
See the "Exams" link on my class web page for more info, especially
which<br>
book problems to do for sections 17.1-17.2.<br>
<br>
There's ch 16 tutorial and homework review sets covering sections
16.6-16.10,<br>
"ch 16 (16.6-16.10) Tutorials 2" and "ch 16b (16.6-16.10) Homework
Review",<br>
and 16.11, "ch 16 (16.11) Tutorials 3" and "ch 16c (16.11) Homework
Review".<br>
are due by 11:59 PM on Saturday, 2/23. There's also some for
sections 17.1-17.2<br>
which are due by 11:59 PM on Sunday, 2/24. However, you really need
to finish<br>
these and the book ones before the review on Sunday. That way you
can start<br>
looking at the practice exams. You really shouldn't look at the
practice exams<br>
until you've finished the homework for all the material covered on
the exam.<br>
<br>
The quiz keys for all the quizzes are posted on our class web page
(not Carmen).<br>
<br>
There are blank quizzes there as well. My suggestion is you take a
quiz from<br>
another day (Monday recitation take Wed. and Fri. quizzes and vice
versa). Give<br>
yourself about 15 minutes instead of the normal 18 since you've
already seen the<br>
questions and maybe looked at the answer key for the quiz you took.<br>
<br>
The practice exams are on Carmen. Go to "Modules" in the course
menu. Then<br>
to the "Exams" module. There you'll find "Preparing for Midterm
Exams: Using<br>
Practice Exams". There's some instructions on how to prepare for
the exam and<br>
use the practice exams.<br>
<br>
Then click on "Midterm 2" at the bottom. You'll find 6 practice
exams. That's a<br>
lot and it can be rather overwhelming. The ones listed as
CHEM1220_MT2_Practice_AU17,<br>
CHEM1220_MT2_Practice_SP18 are the midterms from previous semesters.<br>
The others are practice exams from Au17.<br>
<br>
I've put the one which was my practice exam on my class web page at
the<br>
"<a
href="https://asc.ohio-state.edu/zellmer.1/chem1220/pexams/pexam_1220.htm">Practice
Exams</a>" link ( CHEM1220_MT2_Practice_RZ). I did this in case<br>
you can't reach Carmen for some reason. These practice exams
include titration<br>
questions from section 17.3 which you're not responsible for.<br>
<br>
At the link above, I've listed which questions NOT to do on the
practice exams and how<br>
much time to give yourself, essentially a little less than 2.5
minutes per question. Ideally<br>
you should cover all the material first and then take these practice
exams as if they were<br>
the real thing. Print an exam and take it in a setting where you
won't be disturbed and<br>
turn off notifications on your phone (better yet, put it away).
Ideally, take at least 3 of<br>
the 8 practice exams as if they were the real thing and work the
problems on the others.<br>
Try to get some of these done before the review on Sunday. Have at
least one timed<br>
exam done before then. Try to get these finished no later than
Monday so you have<br>
enough time to fix any lingering questions.<br>
<br>
I've supplied worked out solutions and explanations for all the
questions on the<br>
practice exam which was mine on my class web page. You need to
scroll down the<br>
page a little to find those. These are included in the exam packet
on Carmen<br>
corresponding to my practice exam (as one entire packet).<br>
<br>
Don't forget, we have a review, Sunday, 2/24, 2-4 PM in 1000 MP.<br>
<br>
If you don't like asking questions in front of others send them to
me by Sunday<br>
morning.<br>
