Chapter 15 end-of-chapter problem 15.28 asks you to add two
<br>
eqns to get a third and determine the Kp given Kc values for
<br>
the two given eqns. However, the solutions manual gives the
<br>
Kc for the final equation and does not convert it to Kp.
<br>
The answer of 9.523 x 10<span
style="display:inline-block;width:0;height:0;overflow:hidden">^</span>-31</sup>
is correct for the Kc value.
<br>
(9.5 x 10<span
style="display:inline-block;width:0;height:0;overflow:hidden">^</span>-31</sup>
to the correct s.f.).
<br>
<br>
To get Kp you need to use the eqn,<br>
<br>
Kp = Kc * (RT)^(delta n)<br>
<br>
The (delta n) is the change in moles of gas. For this question<br>
it would 2 - 3 = -1<br>
<br>
Kp = Kc * (RT)^(-1) = (9.523 x 10<sup class="moz-txt-sup"><span
style="display:inline-block;width:0;height:0;overflow:hidden">^</span>-31</sup>)*{(0.0821)(298)}^(-1)<br>
<br>
Kp = 3.89 x 10<sup class="moz-txt-sup"><span
style="display:inline-block;width:0;height:0;overflow:hidden">^</span>-32</sup><br>
