Okay this is the third and final set of instructions I'm sending out
about sending me e-mails. After today if they aren't sent to my
e-mail address or contain the correct info I won't reply. Most are
sending them to me but don't have the necessary information.
I got dozens of e-mails yesterday from both classes, mostly about
lab. I had to answer these in between doing work for quizzes and
exams and finally finished them up around 2:30 AM. Forty more since
this morning. Following my requests can help to speed up the
process.

1) You have to let me know which class you are in and include the
information I've asked for below. When sending me an e-mail
make the subject line look something like:

Chem 1220 - "rest of subject"

Examples:

Subject: Chem 1220 - Help with Exp. 2 (dTf)

Subject: Chem 1220 - Help with Homework Problem 13.1

2) If it relates to lab you must indicate which experiment,
day/time of your lab and your lab TA. This can be in the
subject line (best) or in the first line of your e-mail.

3) If it's a question about recitation and/or a quiz include your
TA's name and the day/time of recitation.

4) If it's a question about a pre-lab or data-entry problem you
need to include information which was including in other
e-mails I sent about what to send us when there's problems.
Sending a picture of the problem is a good idea as well. I'll
try to help but if I can't I'll forward the e-mail to the
appropriate
people.

Thanks,

I sent the following e-mail last week but a few people aren't
following the
instructions. There's one additional thing.

When you send an e-mail about a homework exercise please tell me
which
edition of the book it's from. I'm allowing the use of several
different editions
(10, 11, 12, 13, 14) and the end-of-chapters problem numbers
vary. It can be
hard for me to figure out which problem it is if I don't have the
book edition.

Also, please send e-mails to my zellmer.1@osu.edu account and not
through
Carmen. It's easier for me to keep track of things and we'll
make sure I
get them. If you don't hear from me in about 1-2 days please
resend the
message and indicate you've sent it previously. Don't for the
labsupervisor
account for lab question. You can ask me lab questions but
sending them to
the supervisor accounts means another set of eyes looking at
e-mails. If
you send questions to that account CC me on them.

Please read the instructions below and follow this.

If you want to send an e-mail to me do NOT send it to
or reply to the e-mail
list (chem1220) I use for sending e-mails to the class. I will
get it eventually
but it's possible it could go through to the entire class. To
send me an e-mail
use the following addresses,

zellmer.1@osu.edu

rzellmer@chemistry.ohio-state.edu

You can also send e-mail to the following address if it's a lab
question
(although I will also help with lab questions). All lab
supervisors will
see it then and you might get faster service.

chemlabsupervisor@chemistry.ohio-state.edu

Also, I'm teaching 1220 and 1250 this semester. I get a lot of
e-mails. To
make it easier for me to quickly answer your questions please
let me know
which class you are in and include the information I've asked
for below. When
sending me an e-mail make the subject line look something like:

Chem 1220 - "rest of subject"

Examples:

Subject: Chem 1220 - Help with Homework Problem 13.1

If it relates to lab you must indicate which experiment,
day/time of your
lab and your lab TA.

Finally, every now and then I accidentally send something from
my personal
account. Again, don't reply to that account since I don't
check it as often
as I do my chemistry account. Always send e-mails to me at one
of the
e-mail addresses listed above.

Thanks,
