about these things
so I'm sending this to everyone.
You will be meeting for lab on Thursday and doing check-in
(exp ZEO). The write-up for this is on Carmen (in the
"Modules" link). While technically for this Thur lab you
don't need your notebook it might be a good idea to
prepare it for the glassware techniques part on page 4
in the proper way so your TA can take a look at what
you've done and give you suggestions on what might
be changed before next Tuesday's exp (#1, SOL).
You can find examples of what a good notebook should
look like by going to my web pages, the links in the
syllabus, Appendix A in the manual and the last page of
my syllabus.

There IS recitation this Thursday.

You will be given a pre-quiz at the beginning of recitation.
We will collect them and grade them. However, the grade
will NOT count toward your final grade. The pre-quiz covers
material from 1210. It doesn't cover everything from 1210
which you need to know but some of the more important things
you need to know early on. I'm using it to give you and us an
idea
of what you learned or remember from 1210 (or the equivalent).
You don't have to worry about studying for it. Use it as a
guide
to what you may need to review.

After the quiz you can ask the TA about the questions on the
quiz you couldn't answer or about things on the syllabus you
don't understand, etc.

In the future each Tuesday will be a review period (you come
prepared with questions for the TA). On Thursday you will
have
a short time to ask a couple of last-minute questions and then
a quiz (as stated above). The quiz will generally cover
material
from the previous week (Mon.-Fri.) and the present week
(Mon. and maybe part of Wed.), about a week's worth of lecture
material. I will let you know via e-mail and my web
page what
exactly each quiz covers. Attendance points are
awarded. You
must attend the Tuesday review period each week and the
10
minutes before the Thursday quiz to get these points.
Also, if
you don't attend the review periods on Tue and the 10
minutes
before the quiz on Thursday you will not get full credit
on the quizzes.
See the syllabus for more info.
