<div><big><font size="2"><big><big><font size="2"><big>I want to say
thanks for a good semester. I know I didn't<br>
get to know all of you or learn your names but don't
be surprised<br>
if I remember some of your faces (at least if I saw
you in class).<br>
I may even remember some of your names if we had the
chance<br>
to speak on more than one occasion. Forgive me though
if I<br>
don't.<br>
<br>
Thanks for your cooperation at the final. We got set
up pretty<br>
quickly and out pretty quickly. <br>
</big></font></big> <br>
I want to say a special thanks to those who continued to
come to<br>
lecture. I'm grateful for that. It's much easier to
lecture when people<br>
are there. I hope no matter what the outcome, you can say
you<br>
learned something. I think there were times we actually had
a little<br>
fun and laughed a little. Whoever thought you would be able
to<br>
laugh during a chemistry lecture. Maybe you even learned
something<br>
new and found a few things interesting (like how geckos can
walk<br>
on walls or you can drink boiling water).<br>

<big><font size="2"><big><big><font size="2"><big><big><font

and we cover a lot of material.<br>
</big></font></big>Chemistry is done so you can
all rest a little easier. I know some<br>
of you are done for good and are probably really happy
about that.<br>
I know some of you may have to repeat. That's not the
end of<br>
the world, as you may think right now. It is not the
worse thing that<br>
will happen to you in your life. It happens now and
then, even to the<br>
best of </big></font><font size="2"><big><font

course, please </big></font></big></font></big><big><font
size="2"><big><font size="2"><big><big><font size="2"><big>speak
to<br>
me before you do, even if I'm not your
instructor. I'm sure if approached<br>
properly anyone can pass this course and do
well. </big></font></big>I don't want you<br>
to have to repeat a third time.<br>

grades will be up in Carmen later this afternoon.<br>
It will take awhile to get them to the Registrar
(BuckeyeLink) because<br>
Carmen doesn't seem to be transferring grades to
the Registrar for<br>
large enrollment classes, all of our Chem classes,
and the way around<br>
this problem is taking longer. I apologize for
this taking so long but it's<br>
not in our control. The grades were discussed
with the Vice Chair and<br>
the grade cuts were set by both myself and the
Vice Chair. While I didn't<br>
get everything I wanted, I got as close as
possible. <br>
</big></font></big></font></big></big></font><font

</big></font></big><big><font size="2"><big><font size="2"><big>Before
e-mailing to ask if there was a "curve" think about what
a 'normal'<br>
grading scale is and then look at your score and your
letter grade. The<br>
raw scores were not adjusted but the grades were
adjusted to a curve,<br>
although the "curve" was not very big since our class
average was<br>
close to a "normal" average.<br>
<br>
</big></font>Have a good break. Good luck next year. I'm
sure I'll see some of you<br>
roaming our hallways.<br>
<br>
I will answer individual e-mails which have been sent in the
next couple<br>
of days.<br>
