I know some of you are lucky enough to be able to attend tomorrow's
victory
of OSU over Oregon. This means you may miss your first lab (yes we
have
lab this week). This is not an "excused" absence unless you are
associated
with the team, band, cheer leading squad, etc. If you are I will
need a note.

The following also applies to those who miss lab for any reason.

We don't even worry about whether an absence is "excused" or
"valid".
If you miss an experiment for any reason you need to make it up
during your
other lab periods. We don't allow students to go to other lab
periods to make up
experiments except for very unusual situations. Missing one exp is
not an
unusual circumstance and can easily be made up.

If you miss lab you need to contact the chemistry department's main
office by
4:30 PM this Friday, Jan. 16, to make sure they save your seat. You
can do this
by going to 110 Celeste or sending an e-mail to,
If you do miss lab you should come see me before the 2nd lab
period so
we can discuss when you can make up the exp. You will need to
make it
up during another one of your lab periods and we need to discuss
the
best time to do this. Exp 1 is pretty easy to make up in pieces
over more
than one lab period.
