PSY 7695.04: Bayesian Cognitive Modeling



Instructor: Prof. Jay Myung (myung.1 at osu.edu)

Time: Thursday at 2:15   5:00 pm



Course description: This will be a first introduction to Bayesian cognitive modeling. Students will learn how to build and evaluate hierarchical Bayesian models of various cognitive processes, such as psychophysics, signal detection, memory retention, categorization, probabilistic choice, decision making, number concept development, and response selection, using computer software packages, in particular, R, JAGS, WinBUGS, and JASP. In addition, the basics of parameter estimation, model selection, and statistical modeling will also be covered.

Prerequisites: Graduate standing, or permission of instructor

Evaluation: Final grade will be based on exams, homework assignments, and a term project.
