The Research Associate will help to develop and complete an assessment of the research and extension activities funded by the North Central Regional Aquaculture Center (NCRAC). This will be done through a review of literature, project reports, and other documents related to the research and extension outputs developed by NCRAC funded projects. In addition, a web-based survey will be conducted with aquaculture producers within the NCRAC region to determine which research and extension programs were beneficial to industry. The Research Associate will work collaboratively within the research and extension program at the Virginia Seafood AREC, other ARECs, departments, and colleges within the Virginia Tech system. The position will be located at the VSAREC in Hampton, Virginia. This is a one-year position, and may be extended subject to receipt of future funding.


Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in agricultural or applied economics or related field. Experience with economic impact estimation using IMPLAN software. Demonstrated experience with data collection through surveys.


Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge and research experience in fisheries or aquaculture. Demonstrated experience or academic coursework in research impact evaluation or program evaluation. Demonstrated knowledge and research of North Central Region aquaculture. Demonstrated experience with data collection through web-based surveys (Qualtrics, or similar).
