For years, OSU Extension has had a group of colleagues collaborating on urban metro programming. A few weeks ago the group decided to transition from the Urban/Metro or UMAT team to OSU Extension in the City.
Team members expressed how the people they worked with identified with living and working in the city – more than with the words urban and metro. We will continue to use words like urban as it relates to the National Urban Leaders
Network, funding opportunities, urban influence codes,… as well as the term Metro as it relates to MSA data, and other references, such as What Matters to Metros. Because Ohio is such a dynamic state, with urban, rural, suburban influence, OSU Extension in
the City adds to the Extension mission of engaging people to strengthen their lives and communities through research-based educational programming.
